Keifer Sutherland goes to jail
Keifer Sutherland began his 48-day jail sentence for DUI on Wednesday. Sutherland surrendered himself to the Glendale City Jail at 5:46 p.m., and will serve out the full term of his sentence, and cannot be released early for good behavior or work release.
Sutherland will also be doling out food to other inmates during meal times which will be the only time he will be in contact with the other inmates. In addition, the 24 star has been assigned laundry duty as well. In a statement he released, Sutherland expresses sorrow for letting down his loved ones.
I’m very disappointed in myself for the poor judgment I exhibited recently, and I’m deeply sorry for the disappointment and distress this has caused my family, friends and co-workers on 24 and at 20th Century Fox. I appreciate the support and concern that has been extended to me these last weeks both personally and professionally.
As part of his sentence, Sutherland must also complete an 18-month alcohol education program, attend weekly therapy sessions for six months, and five years of probation.
